6 destinations you must discover by yacht
14 July 2022
There’s nothing quite like a yachting holiday. It’s the pinnacle of luxury. From the onboard superyacht experience to the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you, there is no harm in wanting to stay onboard forever. And in the current Sydney weather, an escape to sunnier climates is just what we all need. Which is why we’ve been looking at destinations for a yachting holiday.
So here are our favourite six destinations that are a must-do yachting holiday. From the Mediterranean to Baltic sea, or out to the Caribbean, there’s simply no better way to explore these destinations than from the comfort of a chartered yacht.
Greek Isles
Explore unspoiled landscapes and ancient architecture as you discover a land rich with history and archaeological sites. Visit the island of Paros which is famous for its marble, or the less-touristed Antiparos. Then head to Sounio where you can visit the temple of Posiedon and Hydra where you’ll find beautiful, old mansions. With pristine green and turquoise blue oceans, stunning stalagmite caves and the temples of the Greek gods, there is so much to see at every stop. And the beauty of travelling by yacht, is that you can see it from both land and sea.
Italian Coast
Set sail to mesmerising destinations like Portofino, Forte dei Marmi, Capri Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. Here you’ll find secluded coves and exclusive beach clubs that can only be reached by boat. Then there’s the shopping and dining on land — bellissimo. And the beauty of seeing it all in a yacht? You can escape to view it from the water if the crowds become too much.
St Tropez and the French Riviera
If you have always dreamed of experiencing the romance of the area but you want to avoid the huge crowds, then a yacht-holiday is exactly what you need. Sit back and enjoy the view of the stunning coastal scenery, from the Esterel Mountain coast to the infamous Cannes port; you may even spot some dolphins and whales along the way.
Croatian Islands
These stunning islands are best explored by private yacht or sailboat. Filled with quiet, charming towns, you’ll find waterfront restaurants, medieval architecture, and cathedrals from the Gothic and Renaissance era. Set sail and explore places like Brac with its hermitage monasteries, Rovinj with narrow streets filled with art galleries, chic boutiques and wine bars, then onto the Brijuni Islands where you can tour the private safari park of Josip Broz Tito.
Norway
Prepare to be absolutely awed by the beauty that surrounds you as you sail down the Norwegian Fjords. Akin to Milford Sounds in New Zealand but on a larger scale, this maze of islands is dotted with fishing villages, roaring waterfalls and incredible hiking. Begin your journey in Oslo, make sure you make a stop at Bergen and then go on through the fjords of Western Norway.
Caribbean
With turquoise blue waters, warm weather all year-round and large, sandy, lush green islands scattered around, the British Virgin Islands are a popular escape. Spend your days diving in and out of the water as you drop anchor close to stunning destinations like the Windward Islands, then venture in for an evening meal as you watch the sunset. This is a holiday to simply swim, relax, eat, sleep, repeat. Pure bliss.
